I received this plant back in Oct. 2015. It has done well here. It has formed a nice clump. It had an early bloom in 2016 on March 13th. But I think this year is more normal for the plant. The first bloom came this season on April 4th 2017. It has been blooming almost everyday since. These are reblooms in the photo, I pulled 13 old dead scapes. The scapes averaged 33 inches tall, the blooms are 5 inches, most of the scapes had two way branching three had three way branching, and there were an average of 12 buds per scape. These photos were taken this evening.

MP doesn't open full enough for my liking. Thick scapes, with heavy substance to the blooms (which could actually be a detriment to it opening). Hardy in my area, I just don't love it and its days are probably numbered in my garden. šŸ˜

I received this CV in the spring at our local Daylily Society Club meeting. No real report to give, but it sure is a gorgeous face.

Here is a photo that I took back in May.

I have grown this Dl for 22 years and have no plans for discarding it. I love it's subtle beauty and it' heat tolerance. One year after dividing the plant I didn't want to throw away the leftover fans so I stuck single fans into one gallon pots and the next spring those bloomed as well as those in the ground. Can't beat the vigor of these old timers!

I planted 'Ming Porcelain' on Oct. 15, 2015. Not sure how many fans, maybe four looking at the photo.

Today I took these photos, there are over 25 fans in the clump, there are four rebloom scapes getting ready to bloom (counting the one with the bloom), and I found one new rebloom scape forming down in the foliage. As can be seen in the photo 'Ming Porcelain" waits till later in the day to fully open. It has the plainest bloom of almost any plant in the garden, but I still like it very much. I measured the single bloom shown in the photo as 5 inches. The scapes averaged only 24 inches tall, so a little shorter in my garden this year that the registered height.

The first blooms on this plant opened this year way back on April 21st, and it has had a series of rebloom scapes since then. The plant only showed two way branching mostly and only averaged 6 buds per branch, but it does send up a good number of scapes so the low bud count and the low number of branches is not readily apparent during peak bloom.
The plants does show some rust (not sure there is a plant in my garden that does not show some rust at times) but it is in my opinion pretty rust resistant.

I planted Ming Porcelain twice in 2020, one group in March, one group in August. The March group bloomed but didn't have their full look yet.

This summer, 2021, Ming Porcelain did much better. Beginning July 14 and running until August 4th, Ming Porcelain bloomed pretty continuously. The flowers changed color a lot depending on temperature ranging from gold to rosy to pale pink. I like the flower a lot. It's very vigorous, which is a big plus. It looks good with other Daylilies.

Some examples of color variation this summer

2022ā€¦not a good year for MP. After going all out last year, this year was a pale comparison, with only 10 blooms for 1 week, July 20-27. I guess it's resting? Maybe it's one of those on again, off again plants here, where it needs a season to chill out. The flowers are so luminous and silky that I will give it whatever time it needs.

@Zoia, your photos don't look like Ming Porcelain to me. The blooms are the right color, but they look too ruffly and textured. I could be wrong, but I would have said that Ming Porcelain was one of those cultivars that was instantly recognizable and totally distinctive. Are you sure you got the right plant?

I bought this plant in the fall of 2021 and had high hopes for it. I absolutely loved the look--IMO, the name is perfect as the petals do look like porcelain--and it had a reputation as a great increaser with excellent rust resistance. In my garden, the first was true but not the second. The plant took off in the bed but showed a lot of rust right away. It was so bad I cut it back, potted it up, and moved it to "Daylily Jail" to protect the other plants in the bed.

Being in the pot did not slow it down. It bloomed profusely, and I did love the blooms, which had great substance and a translucent look. It was with sadness that I sent it to a friend up north. It's gone but not forgotten.

Nan, I don't know! I'm pretty sure those are the plants sent by G Wild in 2020 but they've sent me so many wrong plants! Maybe it's a lookalike that they sent in it's placeā€¦ It's really pretty, whatever it is.

Yeah, it's pretty all right. It reminds me of Country Fair Winds or maybe Pure and Simple.

I do agree it does not look like 'Ming Porcelain'. I grew it and it did super here, but it always had a very plain look about it to me. It spread out so big I got rid of it.

Ugh, another NOID from G Wild. At least it's pretty! And definitely not invasive. It doesn't have the green throat, that should have been a tip-off.

Records show I bought this plant in 2012. A historical daylily it is a reliable bloomer under partial shade, fighting off tree roots [with a little help :whistling:] Certainly not a fancy flower by today's blooms. Pod fertile for sure as I have some bloomed seedlings; I have not played with the pollen. Reasonable but no excessive, fan expansion as I have split it at least twice. I don't seem to have any rust issues with this plant in TX
