Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Pandora's Box')

No daylily has ever been more prolific for us than good old Pandora's Box. We deadheaded daily for years and one year topped a thousand deadheads from ours. Great performer, always reliable, stunning en masse.

Very easy care and very prolific bloomer. I am growing it in a large pot where it seems as happy as a clam.

It is probably not Pandora's Box' fault since I have this CV tucked away in a less than ideal spot. Not a great performer for me in terms of bloom and increase. Oh well.

A pretty daylily, it's been here many years. Although it is registered as evergreen (hybridized in Florida) it goes dormant here in my zone 4 winter (sets dormant buds, that is). This is it emerging here this spring.

A good dependable little daylily, especially if you like the little ones. Perfect for front of the border. Mine seems shorter than what it is supposed to be, but fine where I have it. Blooms are open first thing in the morning & still looks good at the end of the day. I do have it planted where it gets afternoon shade.

I bought mine decades ago for my front border. It is a prolific bloomer for a couple of weeks and I've had more then one person want divisions of it. I got mine from Wayside Gardens all those many years ago and one of the things that they said in their ad was what intrigued me. It said that the base color was very white for a daylily and only got whiter as the day went on. That is so true. I now know a lot more about so called white daylilies, and to be quite frank, some of the "whites" are not appealing to me. The yellow tint isn't too bad but that faded out orange color that some of them start out with reminds me of old newspapers. Pandora's Box blooms are as described by Wayside. One of my first daylilies and still my absolute favorite. It performs extremely well in every aspect. The color blends well with other plants. The frosting on the cake is the lovely fragrance.

I started with three double fans and within 3 or 4 years had friends digging clumps of 40 fans! It certainly was the fastest grower I've ever had.

I found that it is a dormant here in my zone 5 garden. Not in an ideal location ( along the drip line of a maple tree) it does okay. The blooms open early in the morning and look good by the end of the day, this could be due to the shade it gets during the afternoon heat. Steady increase, and not a prolific bloomer. Once again probably due to its location. It is hard to find something that does well by this tree as it stays so dry, so Pandoras Box is willing to bloom here and looks good. I am going to leave it where it is.

Pandora's Box was one of my first dayliles...can't remember where I purchased. Started out with two small fans, now I have a 15 fan clump that needs dividing. I love the color combination of purple and cream.

I have had Pandora's Box for about ten years. It blooms reliably each year, although with insufficient watering the blooms can be down in the foliage. It has increased from two to 11 scapes in ten years. I have moved it once but never divided it. Although it is a nice enough plant, I haven't known how to use it effectively all these years.

I don't see Pandora's Box as playing a leading role in the garden, but it could play a nice supporting role to plants with larger flowers. The color of Pandora's Box's eye is similar to the main color of Indian Giver, which is new to my garden this year, so I may put them together in the garden so their colors will complement each other. They bloom at the same time in my garden. The eye color of Pandora's box is also similar to one of the main colors in Third Witch, which is also new in my garden, so perhaps Third Witch will end up in that garden too.

I moved my little garden last year & finally have space for SOME daylilies (Ha!). Pandora's Box was the first bloom of the new guys and it's bloomed pretty much every day since. I've got it in an odd spot where she gets probably not enough sun but she's growing strong and happy already. She's pretty and stays pretty all day.

Pandora's box is a very good performer in my garden, though farely new to my set up it delivers lovely blooms and I expect it to do so for many years to come

I've had Pandora's Box in my garden for maybe 5 years. I had enough to split it up and put it in a yardsale and a double fan for me.

Just bought this one last month at Walmart of all places. It just keeps blooming and is a nice contrast to the pink and coral daylilies around it.

Pandora's Box as several others have said was one of my very first daylilies when I got started many many years ago and it was given to me. It does very well for me in my zone 8b garden. One you can count on to bloom well and to be one you can also share to get your friends hooked on daylilies!!!

I had read that Pandora's Box is very light peach in the early morning. One day I was up early enough to catch the color. It should blend beautifully with other peach and coral shades.

My Pandora's Box definitely starts out slightly peachy then bleaches out to a nice white. I have her in a terrible spot, in the way back of a garden, with taller things in the front. This might be a good year to dig her out and put her somewhere that's a better fit for her size. She does ok back there, not amazing, too much competition from the thread leaf Coreopsis ( although they look pretty together). PB blooms EM in my garden, late June into early July.
