I will start out saying I have very little gardening experience. I am located in South Louisiana. I bought an old house a few years ago and with it came Crinum Lillies in my yard. I never touched it because I did not want to kill it. After 8 years of mowing around this plant, earlier this year I decided to just mow over it. Next thing I know, come spring, it was blooming!

I want to share the plant with someone and I don't want to lose the few plants that I have.

1. How do you start a new plant from these old ones?
2. Also, how do I remove the stem after it's stops flowering and/or falls over?
3. Also, should I snip off the dead flowers to encourage new flowers or just let them fall naturally?

Excellent find! Crinum is a bulb plant. If it is surrounded by mowed area, it might not have the conditions to increase as quickly as it could in a flower bed, with more loose, rich, fertile soil. Bulbs increase by growing baby bulbs at their base that, over time, become a clump of full-size adults.

Without seeing the base of your plant(s), it's hard to tell if you have multiple bulbs in that spot yet or not. If so, you could dig some up to share.

Once an inflorescence falls over, it's fine to trim it off.

Crinums have offsets just like daffodils.
Unlike daffodils, cinum have monster sized bulbs.
I would wait till frost, or until spring (even better)...
Then dig a large very large root ball.
Also deep!
Can't tell you how many I've cut through, not digging deep or wide enough.

Yes, they are huge!

I was listening to a garden show on the radio......and the guy was explaining how to dig up a crinum. The first step was "get two shovels......because your going to bust the first one". It's so true.

Your pink blooms are beautiful.

We call our dark pink crinums here, "Naked Ladies". Yours look similar.

"Naked ladies" usually refers to Lycoris of various species or Amaryllis belladonna because their foliage is not present when they bloom.
