Adelman's Orphan was a $30 P.tenuifolia.rosea normally selling for about $150 from the experts in species peonies, HSFF. It turned out to be a very nice, unusual tenuifolia hybrid but not the species rosea. Some of these members, including myself, jumped on the bargain price. My wife ran my roots through the washing machine and ruined most of them. I had wrapped it in a wet towel after digging and she washed the towel without shaking it out. I sent a root with one eye in one of my gift boxes but I don't recall which one. It is worth nursing along as it adds a nice deep rose single flower to the regular fern leafs.
This is the only picture I have left of AO. Note the color.
