I'll just recap what I'm reading:

Bedtime book: Good as Gone by Amy Gentry (thriller?)
Phone: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (classic; fantasy)
Lunchtime book: Sower of Dreams by Debra Holland (fantasy)
Book I keep in my car: High Exposure by David Breashears (non-fiction on mountaineering)

I set a goal at Goodreads to read 36 books this year. I shouldn't have a problem meeting that.

Funny that I usually read a book in only 3-4 says, but thanks to the timing...it's gonna take me two years to read this book. Started in 2017; hope to finish in 2018.
Still reading 'Along Came a Spider'. About half-way through.

I'm alway so sleepy at this time of year, every time I pick up a book, I fall asleep. Currently TRYING to read The Wanted by Robert Crais. I love his books but ... I'm so sleepy!

Ice Trap by Kitty Sewell. Found it in the large print section of my library. I started it today and am only about 1/4 of the way into it, but it's completely held my attention and I want to find out what happens next. Lately, I've had a hard time finding a book that does that for me, so I'm thrilled.

So far, it's a bit of a mystery, but nothing overly gruesome or evil or violent or overly sexual - all of which seem hard to find in a book lately.

Like Liz, I am usually reading several books at the same time, and each has its particular location.

BEDSIDE BOOKS:

(1) Library book (time pressure to prioritize reading it): "Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light" edited by Brian Kolodiejchuk - About her calling to start Missionaries of Charity outreach to the poor and dying in India. I am not Catholic, but I find this book fascinating because it shows just how persistent Mother Teresa needed to be to get the approvals needed to start this work.

(2) My own book: "In Search of Lost Roses" by Thomas Christopher - Old book full of intriguing new-to-me information, e.g., (a) lots of old roses can be found next to graves in old cemeteries because it was common to plant the favorite rose of the deceased there; (b) rose rustling (just cuttings, not the entire plant)!

SOFT CHAIR IN COZY ROOM:

(1) For a free online Coursera course in Greek and Roman mythology that I am currently taking: "The Odyssey" by Homer and translated by Robert Fagles. Amazingly readable and interesting.

(2) My own book: "The Lost Steps" by Alejo Carpentier - Recommended by the Road Scholar travel organization in the reading list for a boat trip down the Amazon River.

(3) My own book: "Necessary Conversations between Families and Their Aging Parents" by G. W. and L. M. Kaufman. Just started it.

Carol ... I, too, have several books going at once. That's why it's hard for me to respond to this thread. I also am spending a lot of time catching up on my "pending research" stuff. I don't take time during the gardening season, so I make a list ...

MORNING READING WITH COFFEE:

Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale .... I like to start my day with faith reading and Peale has written some very good books that make me think.

TAKE A BREAK READING

Secret of the Wolf by Susan Krinard ... This is part of a series of books. She's a good wordsmith, so it's a fun read. My breaks are usually fairly short, so nothing serious for this kind of reading.

GARDENING READING

No-Work Garden Book by Ruth Stout .. she was a pioneer in the no-till gardening method. When she first wrote about mulch gardening in her book How to Have a Green Thumb Without An Aching Back in 1955 was considered a breakthrough gardening book. This book was published in 1971. She's brought a lot of experience gained in the years in between to this book.

ROSE READING ...

Hennessy On Roses by Roy Hennessey .... Roy was so far ahead of his times he was considered an outcast by the American Rose Society. The thing is, he grew and sold excellent roses ! I love him, so I have to re-read this book now and then ...

FUN READING ... when I can

Breakup by Dana Stabenow ... I've loved this series set in Alaska. I think Stabenow kind of hit her stride with this book. It's a hoot and a good way to end the day.

Breakup is the seventh novel in Stabenow's Edgar Award-winning Kate Shugak series, and is often-cited as a fan-favorite.

Carol, "In Search of Lost Roses" by Thomas Christopher was mandatory reading for those of us involved in working in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and the Sacramento Historic Cemetery Rose Garden. I met some of the most interesting people through my interest in old garden roses ...

How wonderful that you worked at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and the Sacramento Historic Cemetery Rose Garden! I don't know if there are any cemeteries here in the east that focus on old roses as those places do, although Christopher mentions a cemetery in Philadelphia that has a lot of old roses (at least it did in the 90s when he was writing his book.

I know very little about old roses except what I read in "In Search of Old Roses. I saw some in bloom at the New York Botanical Garden's Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's Cranford Rose Garden, and Bartram Garden in Philadelphia where they are restoring a garden that has some old roses. I was inspired to join a national organization focused on old roses and whose name I forget. It doesn't seem to communicate with members much, so I may not renew.

I also just bought a big old picture book called "Classic Roses" by Peter Beales that has some information about old roses. It is an intriguing topic. I can see how you would be very interested in it and probably very knowledgeable too with all your experience!

All this mentioning of where the books are located for different reading events, and not one person mentions the bathroom?

When I was a kid my dad kept an encyclopedia in the bathroom.With not much else to do, we children would read the encyclopedia. Then dad would quiz us at the kitchen table during dinner; it was one of the ways we earned our allowance. The other way was to play poker, but that would give you the wrong impression. Dad was just teaching us our numbers and to play fair.

Even though I've been stuck inside during the storm, I still have not finished Along Came a Spider. It's a good book; I just have a short attention span during weather events.

The bathroom! How could we forget that

I've never understood that. I'm not in the bathroom a minute. No time to read in there. My husband, on the other hand, always takes reading material with him. I thought it was a guy thing.

I forgot my bathroom book, Greene, you are right! I have in there Co-Active Coaching which I'm reading quick little bits of as I can.

I finished Sower of Dreams by Debra Holland today and enjoyed it enough that I bought the second book in the series, Reaper of Dreams.

Finished reading The Running Man, forgot how much they changed the story for the movie. Book so much better.
Putting a pause to the reread of the King books to try the new one co-written with his son Owen , Sleeping Beauties.

With all the extra work caused by the freezing weather, yes, I am still reading Along Came a Spider, but I have to say that now that I am nearing the end, the action is speeding up. This book has lots of twists and keeps me on my toes.

Isn't Joe Hill a son a King?

I finished the Civil War series ''Gods and Generals / The Killer Angels / The Last Full Measure' by Michael Shaara. Really well written.
May get another of his novels of the Civil War...or I may return to the title I interrupted to read the Shaaras chronicle.

I finished Good as Gone by Amy Gentry. It says "A Novel of Suspense" on the front cover, but I'm not sure I'd classify it that was. I think it's literary fiction. The two main characters, the mother and the daughter who was kidnapped and returned, are the point of view characters. This does take you on a very interesting tour of their inner lives. There is a big plot twist that is concluded in a most satisfactory way. I really loved the ending of this book, and by ending, I mean the last 75 pages or so as well as the final page. Loved this book. About to start The Art of War by Sun Tsu.

Yesterday I finally finished reading Along Came a Spider. Yawn. My final opinion - it would make good kindling.

Joe Hill is one of his sons and Owen King is the other. His wife Tabitha has also written a few good books.
