Blooming today, SDB Hot
Thumb of 2018-01-18/cliftoncat/8b135b
I'm impressed with this little guy - planted in September, bloomed in October and now blooming again.

Several other irises have stalks with buds on them, so I'm hoping some might open before we next leave.
And of course there's my good friend Rosalie Figge, happy to bloom whatever the month: Thumb of 2018-01-18/cliftoncat/4903e8

It's France, Bonnie. I've seen buds on Irish Darling, St Petersburg, Blueberry Tart, It's Not Over, Je M'Appelle Reviens (I think!) and a few others. In England we won't see any iris action for a while yet!

I've been picking mimosa for the house - I really love it, it's like a sign of warm Spring weather on the way. Wish I could send you a bunch to put in a vase by your bed - it's so cheerful and it smells lovely. Smiling

Thinking I might have some chanterelles up behind the house, I caught sight of this as I was walking by.
Iris unguicularis 'Ginny Hunt'. This is apparently not a registered name.. Flowers are much larger than the species.
Thumb of 2018-01-19/Henhouse/dbbb65

'Ginny Mitchell' is blooming, but not worth a picture (she's trying...).. also in bloom are 'Eleanor Roosevelt' and 'Grape Echo' and a few others with stalks..

'Mariposa Autumn' is open.. not an award winning stalk, but A+ for the middle of January.

'Flower Shower' has been a great SDB for rebloom here.

I agree they are very pretty. Here in Nebraska, it's still in the teens or negatives in temperature. I really dislike the cold in January. Grumbling But once March comes, my irises will pop up and bloom. Some of you guys are lucky to have blooms in January. ( Hilarious! I am so jealous Hilarious! )

You're right Mika, then you wont see the iris blooms for that long in the spring. D'Oh!

Yes, there is that, Evelyn - I can in theory move from iris season in France to iris season in England. But in practice I always seem to get the timing a bit wrong, so finish up not seeing certain blooms in both places! Hilarious!

Yellow happens to be one of my favorite spring colors and SDB 'Hot' sure looks warming on a grey day and who can resist the charm of Iris unguicularis 'Ginny Hunt'?

Only hellebores are brave enough to flower at this time of year here!
