I'm really excited for this year! New bulbs, and new types of plants in the ground. Some iris and daffs and peony. Also the seedlings that will be blooming for the first time!

In the meantime, I've been enjoying some house plants

Looking very good Dave. I'm happy you were able to utilize the pollen. Let me know if you need any more pollen from Awesome or any others I may have. At the end of 2017 I still have around 90 different varieties growing.

Looks organized.

I'm supposed to get some new T5 fluorescent fixtures tomorrow and will be expanding my basement capabilities with that addition.

Nice! Growing inside sure makes winter more bearable. What brand did you go with? Mine are the blaze master brand. Cheap compared to how expensive they can get. I want to buy one more light fixture, but use the Hortilux bulbs that are $30 for each bulb. Be pricey with 8 bulbs. But I want to compare witty the regular spectralux bulbs if there is a difference in growth. So I'll use same media, and same seed under each light.

We have had snow cover for two weeks, too deep to go anywhere.
Warm temps and rain has melted most so I couldn't stay inside.
I wanted to check some two year old oriental Poppies for winter crowns. What a thrill. They are all there.
It's wet and squishie so I didn't stay out long.
I have been returning to my wishlist of perennials and found places for the four Veronica Charlottes I ordered.

Lookin good.
Will you transplant these into the ground this year? or grown on in pots? I've never done lilies from seed.

Jack, I'll transplant the bigger ones this year. The smaller ones I'll winter over in the fridge. Give them another year too bulk up before they get their first harsh winter.

Experimenting with a be light bulb. Started some seeds in separate baggies that will eventually go into pots. One batch under regular T5 bulbs at 65k, and another batch under these Hortilux powerveg bulbs. See if there is any growth difference between the bulbs.

Still no sign of spring. Lily seedlings are doing good though. Had some bulbs in my fridge that decided to break dormancy so I had to pot them all up.

Usually by now I've got some work done in the gardens. New bulbs planted or at least spring clean up done. Not this year. The few nice days we had I was stuck working.

Suppose to be nice this weekend. I gotta work Saturday, but Saturday afternoon and Sunday, I'll be doing some clean up

I have some life in my gardens. Some lilies are starting to poke up. Some daylilies are starting to come up with foliage as well.

Going to add some dahlias and a couple Arisimae into a mixed garden in the front yard as well.

The discoloration on the lilies is from plantskydd to keep the rabbits away.

Lilacs also have some buds on them, cut down the old wood on the rose bushes and hibiscus as well

For a tad chilly Saturday night. Unfortunately I had some lilies get damaged from it. Guess we will see if they recover Sighing!

Got to below freezing here too, fortunately, not much and not long. Appeared only 1 potted lily suffered.

Caught me completely off guard. But that's the way things go sometimes. Nothing anyone can do.
