I see two threads devoted to goners in 2017 and 2018. My heartfelt sympathies to those who've had so many problems -- believe me, -- I've been there and experienced that!
Sooo, I thought I'd start a new thread devoted to "thrivers". Although January may be a bit early to determine what is thriving or not, at least in my locale, enough of the clumps are giving evidence of a healthy status here to warrant a "state of the iris garden" address. lol
picts are examples of "thrivers" in my field -- particularly ones I'm looking forward to blooming.

When posting your "thrivers", I would love to hear how old the clump is. I'll go take some photos when the old cat is done taking a nap on me.

Hilarious! I do hope that is not some kind of code, Rob! Hilarious!

Great idea for a thread, Timothy! Mine are still in their usual sad winter state, but I know that your old favorite Thornbird Big Grin is one of my best 'thrivers'.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

.... yeah, mine did very well too when I grew it many years ago, -- then, I gave it all to my local iris club -- who were very glad to receive it, I might add Smiling

Oh my goodness I'm floored by those increases and the size of those rhizomes! I don't understand why none of my irises look like that. The increases are much less and the rhizomes much smaller. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Shrug!

All of these were planted as a single rhizome in Sept-Oct of 2016. So that makes them 1.3 to1.4 years old. They were planted in the new beds in my field. (The irises don't grow as well in the other beds...even though they were amended and replanted.)

All About Spring (While in a pot waiting to be planted, this one had rotted down to a small grape.)

Stan Coates (This is also a survivor of pot rot...and it needs a Winter cleanup.)

Bravery (You can see the original Mother rhizome still attached.)

There also the ones I posted as growing weird in this post (except Classic Suede). https://garden.org/thread/view...

Nice to know this one grows well. I just planted mine in late Sept-Oct. and I think it's dead. D'Oh! I'm still keeping hope that some green will sprout up in Spring. Crossing Fingers!
