My only thrivers at the current moment are a few of my old historic-like noids. Every one of them has done well.
Here's a good example. These purple/white bicolours are shrouded in weeds and other irises like themselves, and just look at how much bloom there is!
Their tan counterparts, they've had a big bloom this year too. Both of these (and these images) come from the fourth bed.
It's quite amazing to me.
For more recently planted rhizomes, another noid that looks like Indian Chief. Four or five large rhizomes. Several of which have put up at least one increase, and then there's a few working on three or four, and one working up a sixth. Of all of my 2018 plantings, I have a hunch that these will have a first year bloom.
I haven't given the majority of my new varieties a chance to fully establish a root system and attempts at increasing yet, because some are brand new plantings. I'll be tracking the increases as I go through fall and winter. Hopefully, some of, or all with thrive, but I know I will have a few that won't olay nice..
I like this thread.
