Since the original thread has been closed (for no good reason that I can see), I've started a new one for us. Smiling

What i did not do in my garden -- since it's once again buried in snow after the "Easter Eve" storm and another all-day snowfall today -- is update my checkbook, pay bills, and call a couple of places to clarify some billing issues. And walked on my treadmill for a while, while listening to an audiobook (and watching the snow falling on the garden). And wonder if spring is ever actually going to come here this year! Blinking

What I did NOT do in my garden today was to sort of 'clean' the living room. My living room looks nothing like the standard American living room as my house is still unfinished but I am proud of what I was able to accomplish all by myself.

The lumber has been moved to the front wall, the tool shelf is now near the front door for easy access and to track less mess. Still have to find someone to buy the drywall lift but it looks way better than it did this morning.

Younger daughter thought I could do that "Golden Girls" thing and find 2 or 3 roommates to share expenses and help with the work to finish the house. Then she dumped her dangerous dog on me. Blinking Crying The dog took up all my time and energy, woke me up several times each night, and no way anyone could come into the house with that dog!!

Maybe if I could find just one able-bodied person... Shrug! I know how to do the work that needs to be done but...heck, I'm only one person. I need to clone myself to get this done before I die. Rolling on the floor laughing

I'm gonna get up early tomorrow and try again. (Gardening is way easier than this kind of stuff!!!)

What I did NOT do in my garden today was to drive about 30+ miles to get my drivers license. I had cashed a check a few days ago which required me to hand over my ID. Silly bank teller sort of forgot to give me back the license and it took me 4 days to notice. D'Oh!

I am in the process of assembling some metal shelving to use in the linen closet and the front room closet. My younger daughter could put these together with her eyes closed, but I am trying to get the house neat, organized and presentable for when she visite. I want her to be proud of her dear old mother. Lovey dubby

Edited to add:
Daughter finally got permission to take a day off from work. Only thing is...she will be arriving a day earlier than expected. Yikes! I gotta step up and get this work done.

Sheesh, am I the only one who is NOT doing something in the garden today? I woke up early and managed to assemble the metal shelves. I had to MacGyver two shelves stacked on top of each other (not recommended by the manufacturer) but it's done.
Thumb of 2018-04-05/greene/3d6e0d

After that, I tackled the job of assembling the huge plastic shelf for the front room closet. No photo right now but I'm happy that space is being used for good and not evil.

Then I drove to the corner store to hand over the 4 little chicks to the man I met in Home Depot. He's gonna give the chicks to his dad. He said he would keep in touch with updates. Thumbs up

I was walking to Lowe's to see what plants they had on sale, and halfway there, we had an 5.3 earthquake hit. I did an about face and beelined it home. Was quite shaken up, no pun intended.

It's just as well that you did not buy plants at Lowe's as many if not most of their plants contain neonics which are killing honeybees all over America.
Glad you are safe and were not too shaken up by the experience. Thumbs up

Yikes, Debbie! I hope you didn't have any damage to yourself or property from the earthquake?

Greene, I think I need you to come organize some stuff for me! At this point I'm tired of all my winter non-gardening projects and just want to grow stuff. So desperate that I'm trying to root the stump of a celery stalk (indoors, obviously).

Pretty much the only non-gardening thing I did today was to cook supper Shrug!

I used the ends of celery and carrots to grow 'greenery' to feed my rabbits. It's a good indoor gardening activity.

I am living in an unfinished house. This is what my younger daughter calls my "illegal dorm kitchen" - does this look in any way organized??!!

Just wanted to add...
In that illegal dorm kitchen, I managed to cook a lovely huge lasagna that served 12 people so I guess it works just fine. Doesn't look very nice, but if the cook is willing...she can find a way to make it work. Thumbs up

Greene, as long as you know where things are...(do you)? I usually buy my plants at Home Depot or Green thumb. I just figured it was motivation to get out for excercise.

Sandy, the only non gardening thing I did too, was heat up leftovers and laundry. No damage happened, it just rattled my nerves. My first earthquake I experienced was the Northridge quake in 1994. That is a horrible way to be woken up. I thought my dad was playing a joke on me by shaking my bed (I lived with him at that time) and when I saw he wasn't doing it, I knew what it was. I hope that for those who felt today's, that everybody & everything is ok. I don't think I could ever get used to them. Much rather live through a hurricane any day.

What I did NOT do in the garden today was clean some of my house. I painted on my wood pallet flags and went out for pizza with DH. Too cold and too much snow to do anything outside right now.

My entire life has been 'one day at a time'.
Did I mention there is no kitchen sink? Rolling on the floor laughing

What else I did NOT do in my garden today was to pick up, shake out and fold a ton of fabric. The entire front room used to be a sewing room, fabric scattered everywhere. Everything is now neatly folded on shelves or in drawers. Kind of puts a crimp in creativity, but at least it looks nice. It is now the 'guest room'.

I could mention that the other guest room has 6 chickens living in a wading pool inside of a dog exercise enclosure.

As I was working outside in the rain today I had a visitor for lunch. Apparently he liked todays special. Camelia flowers!!

I have had lots of deer in my gardens for 40 years now, but they are the generic normal blonde deer. This one is a Black tail deer, and very rare to see. As he was eating and I was watching him, he began walking toward me, my heart was beating so loud. I was holding so still I was not even breathing, He came to about 5 feet from me, and his brother began chomping on the Camelia too, the noise spooked him and he turned back to the plant. It was an awesome experience. The coloring on this deer is just stunning, and because he was younger, he still has the baby fur, (you can see him well when you click the pic)

I have decided to don't need those Camelia flowers anyway, but the Lilac and Hydrangea and Clematis are off limits.

I went to the Camelia bush when they left, and as I picked up the little mess they left, right where the deer was standing laid my expensive glasses I have been looking for everywhere. I work like a logger in my gardens, and have had them fly off the top of my head more than once. I am so lucky they were in one piece. I will be buying some dollar store glasses for yard work tomorrow. D'Oh! D'Oh! D'Oh!
