I have a azalea that I got from a funeral. It would wilt between waterings but always came back. Then when the blooms died off the leaves also appeared to die also. They were completely dry and brittle. I'm assuming the plant is dead. Is there any hope for this? Thanks so much in advance.

Azaleas react very quickly to dry soil but will come back if it is not prolonged. Prune your Azalea way back. Keep it in a sunny location and make sure the soil never gets too dry. Water as soon as the surface of the soil feels almost dry.

I am assuming that this acquisition was recent? Azaleas in bloom now in Wisconsin is out of season. I am wondering if it was forced into blooming early and out of season.
Forcing plants to flower them out of their normal season can wreck havoc on some plants. This might be the case here.
Had you watered it properly after bringing it home, it should have survived until you could have planted
it outside. After the funeral was the plant kept in a warm room or left in a car without heat?
But if it is wilting between waterings, how big of a pot was it in? How much water did you give it? Where did you grow it? We need a lot more details and photos if you could.

I doubt a florist azalea will survive outside in Wisconsin. Put it in a larger pot but break the root ball up before planting it. Use some nice rich potting soil with added peat like African Violet soil.

I will try pruning it back and go from there. I have seen these at funerals before and am not sure that they are the aza, easy that are to be planted outside. I have had it inside and in a sunny location. Maybe I just didn't keep it watered enough.
Thank you all for you responses. 🙂
