Nothing like waking up to your first bloom of the season.

Thumb of 2018-04-26/dixiebelle426/14d36d

Also I am hopeful that about 10 or so seedlings maybe produce a flower or 2 this year, what do yall think?

So far I have about 5 scape's now, all are from my mature daylilies.

What a nice bloom to start the season, Catherine! Some of those seedlings look big enough to bloom. I hope you see them this season Crossing Fingers!

I'm betting at least some of your seedlings bloom! I'm way further north than you and my seedlings take 2-3 years to bloom (the shortest has been 18 months). As far south as you are I would expect it to be 1-2 years for you. I've got a bunch of 2016 seedlings so I'm hoping at least some bloom this year. Crossing Fingers!

Elana, I hope that you will see some new blooms this year, please share photos with me when they bloom.

Valerie seedlings are new to me, so I am not sure how big they have to be to bloom, these seedlings are ones I planted this year, and last year. Not sure which is which since I thought I lost all my seedlings from last year. Or they could just be from this year. I will post photos of new blooms, I am sad I will be gone from July 22 to aug 25 thou, in the prime of blooming season, but my son has promise to check my beds daily and send me photos of any blooms.

If and when I get any seedling blooms I'll definitely post them!

I really hope your son checks your beds each day. It's so much fun when bloom season starts and you've got a brand new seedling about to bloom!

But I would think your bloom season would be much earlier. My peak bloom is in early July. I would think yours peak bloom would be late May or early June in GA. By the time you are leaving my mid-late bloomers would be starting. I would think you'd be on mostly late bloomers and rebloom by then.

Mike I don't know any of the names of any of my flowers, when I started my flower bed years ago, my niece got me free flowers from a grower here that had put extra flowers that she could not sale out by the road with a sign that said free. Even with all the seeds that were gifted me, I did not plant them with names on them. The first batch of seeds I done I was very carful with them planting and marking each group with a name. After I lost them all, and started on other batches of seeds, I did not plant them the same way, I started them in several pots with different amout of seeds per pot 1 seed per cross, so when it was time to plant them, I would have many different colors, in each bed, and hopefully not having the same colors right beside each other. And some of the seeds I were gifted were mixed not labeled. Maybe one day I will have a bed with flowers I know there names, but for now I am just happy to have several different colors, and types of daylilies.

Unexpectedly I got my first bloom of the season today. And the variety it was on was....drum roll...a Yellow NOID!

The photo looks pretty spot on for the color, so I suppose you could call it an orange-yellow NOID.
It would not normally be the most impressive bloom by size, shape or color, but without a doubt it was the most impressive of all those features today in my garden.

It would be great if the thread could start off with something other than a yellow NOID!

Nah- after a long brown winter and the sun finally starting to return, I think anything yellow is a fabulous reason to start the April thread...

I was thinking the same thing. I don't have any blooms yet, but I do have one scape on Lovely and Amazing. Surely I will have at least one bloom for April 2019!

Larry, your NOID looks an awful lot like my Peck registration, 'Golden Prize'

@GaNinFl,
Too many similar for me to even try to match it, it will always be a NOID, until I dig it out to make room for something else.

Hey, I can understand that... I guess that's the trouble with 80K+ registered Daylily's.
