I would like to know when exactly you can take the powder off the hibiscus and pollinate another bloom. Would that be anytime after it opens? After say, using a brush to transfer the powder, what do I do next?
The purpose is to get seeds from the pod...I have never been quite successful. I read on how to do it but it doesn't say "when" to get the powder and "when" it is fertile?

when the pollen is fluffy it is ready to be dabbed. The stigma will be wet when it's ready to accept pollen. Hope this helps.

I have found the pollen is easier to work with in the afternoon but have never got it to work as the bloom drops off a few days later after they close. i used a q-tip.

I would say about 10 - 11 am would be a good time; however, some of these aren't compatible with each other. 'Plum Crazy' and 'Turn of the Century' are really difficult to get seeds from. I finally got some, but only a few of my plants would pollinate them. You just have to try and see what happens. I just use a Q-Tip to pollinate mine.
