Looking for the ideal yellow iris. Good substance, hardy, light lemon or butter in color, or creamy yellow.

My vote goes to 'Alice Harding' ... my first totally yellow iris.

Tying Yellow Ribbons is my best yellow self. It blooms faithfully, grows well, isn't bothered by rot, and with stands the weather. It has my vote. Smiling

Thanks Bonnie. I noticed that my garden has little in the way of yellow. In fact, 'Alice Harding' is the only yellow I have. I bought her last year. I will need to move and divide her this year. I want more yellow. It is an excellent accent color. I want an elegant yellow (not gold) that does not look like a 1950s prom dress. I have enough prom dresses in garden.

If you are interested in a smaller bloom size yellow to add color between the tall iris you might like Sherwin Wright

It is listed as a tall bearded but mine never gets taller than some shorter intermediates. It increases well, and once it is settled and increased it produces a lot of blooms. I haven't gotten my pictures of it this year posted yet, but I am thinking of moving mine to become an accent point between some much taller iris.

they have all rebloomed except 'fall empire' i just received that one in dec. 2017. it bloomed on 3/7/18, will let you know if it reblooms in the fall. yellow isn't a color that is prevalent in my garden; it has to be special and has to be great 1.) as a foil for my many purples, 2.) it has to be substantial, and 3.) has to have a second or third blooming season.

mary, thank you very much for the Acorn I tip my hat to you. the generous gesture is accepted with a thank you.

i will probably be dividing 'saxon 'in the near future......my small clump consists of 4 or 5 rhizomes at the moment , but my beds ar so small they can only increase to 10 or so to be too large for the space. Hilarious! Hilarious! t-mail me if you're interested in july?

mary, i forgot to include because it hasn't graced my garden with a bloom. i got it last year but i don't think it is going to bloom this year. it is another m/ l sutton 1999. it used to be one of my favorites when they grew in northern california. i will wait to see how well it performs here.

'Soft Return' is nice, but I think that I like 'Total Recall' better; it's also a rebloomer.

'Luminosity' is a luminous medium yellow and it also reblooms here.

The form could be better on both of these, but they are older irises. Shrug!
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I planted 'Total Recall' last summer, but it did not bloom this year.

Sorry to hear that; it may need to settle in. Mine didn't bloom its first year here, but last year it bloomed in the spring, and then rebloomed again in October, when it was very welcome.

I don't have any yellows that are with an ID, and have bloomed, but my little yellow that definitely looks like Sherwin-Wright has my vote. If it is Sherwin-Wright, I'm seeing a lot of compliments towards the variety. Thumbs up

Not sure @Serjio about that particular one. Just got Schreiner's 2019 Collector's Edition catalog in the mail yesterday & they have a beautiful yellow, named 'Garden Time' , but at $28 it seems just a bit pricey. Albeit, it is a very nice yellow. They sent the catalog for free, as I had placed an order though them, awhile ago. I already forgot where I bought that 'Adriatic Noble', from, but that is months away...
They show on the last page, a "collection" of Tie Dye for $49.00 but of course that doesn't include shipping... Those 5, includes 'Kinkajou Shrew' , 'Blutique' , 'Toucan Tango', 'Peggy Anne' & a golden yellow standards ( all broken colors) of 'Cheetah Cheese' with orange beard.
The cover page is 'Petalpalooza' at $55.00
