Thread OP

I planted this Bush in the beginning of the season.. Well it was more of a twig. But it has its first bloom. So a few questions about this art. What kind do I have here? Also how would I go about getting it to grow into a full bush instead of a blotchy one. Are there any signs this is a doomed bush?.. Any tips and advice is greatly appreciated.

When you got the rose, did it have a name tag? It's very hard to say what you have just from the pics you've shared. Some people aren't picky about knowing the names of their plants -- if they do what they want, that's good enough. Me, I have to know, and having something mislabeled and still unidentified would drive me nuts. But that's just me.

Hi, gill92barrett. Welcome to NGA.

I see no signs of impending doom on your rose. It appears to have some dead or dying old growth, which should be removed, and some very healthy new growth.

Yes, remove the blackened cane, there is no growth on it.
And where do you live? You didn't add that to your profile, you can edit it (click on the person icon upper right) so it appears in the upper right of your posts, see examples in our posts. The graft (that bulge at the bottom is where the rose is grafted onto a hardier rose bush rootstock) seems high and if you are in a colder zone, it would need to be planted much deeper.
