I bought this daylily last summer. It made it through the winter just fine and began blooming just a few days ago. I don't think the scape is anywhere near 38" and I wouldn't expect it on a first year plant. Bloom size is probably close to the registered 9". The first bloom didn't set a pod. And I'll have to check bud count later.

I had Envy Me for several years before I gave it away. It was planted on a slope but was in a fairly shaded part of the yard that gets mostly morning light. The scapes were significantly shorter than what it is registered. Without sufficient water/fertilizer the color could become quite washed out. I found the stems to be somewhat floppy but not so bad that it would need to be staked. It was a very reliable bloomer but I wasn't a big fan of the color or form. Envy Me was slightly pod fertile. Most years no pods would form but a couple of years I was able to collect a handful of pods. It was a much better pollen parent.

As I stated in 2019 I wasn't a huge fan of the color or form of Envy Me but I did have one seedling that had a somewhat similar form so I crossed them. Envy Me was the pollen parent. I wasn't planning on sowing the seeds right away but when I opened the pod several seeds had already sprouted. I planted them and I believe all but one survived.

Last year four out of five of the surviving seedlings bloomed. Here is a picture of the pod parent seedling:

And here are the four seedlings that bloomed for the first time in 2021:

I was surprised that I liked the kids more than either parent.
