I bought this daylily last summer. It made it through the winter just fine and began blooming just a few days ago. I don't think the scape is anywhere near 38" and I wouldn't expect it on a first year plant. Bloom size is probably close to the registered 9". The first bloom didn't set a pod. And I'll have to check bud count later.
