Please help! Something is chomping through the leaves on my rose bush. Two nearby bushes are not affected - yet!
Please tell me what I can do, if anything.
I live in Zone 5.
Thanks for your help!

That looks like Rose Slugs at work. Look at the underside of the leaf for little green worms. Squish 'em.

I looked at the leaves. I didn't see any worms just one small iridescent colored fly which I killed. Is there anything else I can do? It looks like whatever it is has started to attack a nearby rose bush.

Thanks!

They are very small and sometimes hard to find. I usually find them after a thorough search and sometimes they are on the top of the leaves but usually underneath.

Calif. Sue is correct. They are VERY small. And they aren't on every leaf. You can blast UPWARDS from underneath with a strong spray of water, and knock them off that way.

Poison -- insecticides -- are overkill for this pest. They will soon turn into sawflies, and fly away, and your roses will grow new leaves. Watch for them next year, and get them when there are only a few.
