About 3 months ago I purchased a Lord Baltimore from an online vendor. I placed the root and stem in a large pot. I watered it for two months in potting soil. It just will not grow. One thing I would like opinions on is are there dud roots. Only thing I noticed is i can see some of the roots a little uncovered by dirt and they are green. So I think it's alive, but isn 't growing.

this is what i found on this hibiscus,
The hardy forms of hibiscus are valued for their showy late-summer display of enormous satiny blooms. These flower best in areas with long, hot summers. Plants form an upright, bushy mound well suited to the back of a perennial border. This hybrid selection has huge brilliant red blossoms on a tall, bushy plant. Will tolerate average to wet conditions in full sun. Dies back completely to the ground in winter, but new growth is slow to appear in spring, be patient! Mulch well for the first winter, especially in Zones 4 and 5.

I grew some plants from dormant plants from Hallson Gardens. I can tell you they grew much quicker than that. I don't think that is a good sign. They should already be growing in my opinion.

I would think that even the ones that are slow to come out would have done so by now, but I am not one to give up on a plant to quickly. Cover those exposed roots and keep it consistently moist. Do not let it dry between watering. The ancestors of these cultivars were marsh plants and don't like to be dry.

Usually when they say late it should be up growing by mid June at the latest. Im in Z6b and they start coming out of the ground around mid May usually for me, but I've lived in Z5 and it was usually early June unless it was an usually cold winter + spring.

Green is good and hopeful but now is July, it should definitely be showing signs of growth.
If theres nothing by end of July I would probably dig it up and inspect the roots.
