I'd be interested in this too, if any will do well in shade. I have a spot on the east side of my house I'm trying to find something and it doesn't get sun past noon or so. I too am zone 6.
Hello. If you are still following this, I have had success growing Blue Angel in shade. It receives about 2 hours of direct sun in the morning, then dappled sun until about 2:00 when it is totally shaded by a large pine. I am in zone 6b. Second summer photos attached.
A lot of clematis like to have their "feet" in shade. But a lot depends on what you define as "shade".
The alpina types do well in shade. There are a lot of larger flowered cultivars will do well there too. If you're interested in a particular cultivar you can look in the plant database which should specify if they are shade tolerant.
Your clematis is a lovely color. Thanks for sharing it with us. If you haven't done so already, you might want to post a picture of it in our Plants Database.
