Hi,
I bought my wife a yellow calla lily a few days ago, and noticed this morning that the area around the stamens, and some of the stamens themselves, are turning black. I don't remember seeing this when I bought it. It's been in the house since. Is this normal?
Thanks,
...... john

Welcome!

Without photos, we are all taking guesses. Could you post a couple pictures?

They need a lot of sun and not alot of water but it sounds like they may be getting to much water and not enough sun.

Best Gold calla has a dark center. It could be natural coloring.

They look fine to me but if that's plastic wrapped around the pot it should be removed or water will not run through. Thumbs up

Looks great to me, too and I agree about the wrapping.

Yes it may be that your flower is just aging as is normal or a dark centre. I agree with Daniel though, take the plastic wrapping off and make sure your pot has a saucer underneath so that you can give it a good water so that the saucer collects the excess which you can discard if not absorbed. Plants need water and air flowing through the rootball. Lovely plant!

OK. Remove the wrapping ..... will do.
Can I assume that no one has seen the blackening of, and around, the stamens, as the pictures show?
Yes, it's a stunning plant.

Calla lily blooms last a long time but they tend to look bad after a while just like anything else. I wouldn't be concerned it looks normal to me and better than mine do this late in the year Thumbs up

To me, it looks like the natural coloring of the flowers.

It is not normal for the stamens and the area around them on a calla lily to turn black. This discoloration could be a sign of a fungal or bacterial infection, or it could be due to environmental stressors such as overwatering or lack of sunlight. You should inspect the plant closely to see if there are any other signs of disease or damage, such as yellowing or wilting leaves, and consider adjusting the plant's care to prevent further problems. It may be helpful to remove any affected parts of the plant and isolate it from other plants to prevent the spread of disease. If the problem persists or worsens, you may want to consult a plant expert or a local nursery for further advice.

Thanks john. I'll keep that in mind for future ones. I'm afraid that this one is long gone.
