I remembered seeing a Salvia called Bright Eyes and at first I thought perhaps this one was another name for it. Upon researching online, that is not the case. Salvia Bright Eyes is a Suncrest Nurseries introduction and one of the places I looked listed it as Salvia greggii Bright Eyes.
S Ruby Star is a microphylla cultivar that appears to get taller. The flowers also look to be a brighter true red. From the photos it looks gorgeous and if it proves to be as good as it has performed in the UK, perhaps we will see it here in the USA.
