I like this one. Bud count is modest but it clumped up really quickly to make a nice show for me.

Jillz pretty much nailed this one. It doesn't have a high registered bloom count, anyway (14). Because of that, I tend to get only three weeks of blooms from it. Still, it's an awesome, unique color combination which looks great with yellows.

Last season I crossed it with Goldner's Bouquet both ways (some as the pod parent, some as the pollen parent), so I won't know what it's kids look like until next summer, but it is fertile both ways. ...really can't wait to see the kids, because the plants look so great together.

Only pic I could find with a yellow. That little orange fuzzball in the lower left corner is Matchless Fire. Rolling my eyes.

Takes a good picture, perhaps better than reality. Hope bud count improves.

Anyone growing any seedlings with Matchless Fire in it's parentage? There are only 2 registered kids in the database but it looks to be pod fertile.

I have first year seedlings (no blooms yet). 6 with MF as pod parent and 4 with MF as pollen parent. Most of them are pretty beefy plants for their age (the other parent is a Goldner with much bigger height and bloom count).

I think I tried a couple crosses the year before and failed, but when I got persistent about it, it worked out. Like you, I was surprised when I only saw two kids listed and one isn't pictured anywhere. Does make me wonder how unpleasant-looking the kids might be. Hilarious!

Every once in a while you get a thumb from and old post, which happened to me this morning. I thought I'd respond, not to that, but to an old question about kids for Matchless Fire. I know this is really old and no one may be interested any more, but I had good documentation on kids for MF, so just in case, here you go.

At the time this originally posted, I was waiting on some seedlings to bloom. Since then, they have bloomed.
Overall I was pretty happy with the results. There was some canoing on the MF x GB, especially with the ones with watermarks in the first year, but that seems to have rectified itself somewhat as they plants matured. Now it takes a super hot, dry day to see poorly opened blooms, as you can see in the keeper bed picture at the bottom. Here's what I'm seeing:
