After I click on "Access the Full Trade List for this Swap," I select my screen name, click on "Update View", and then my list of offered seeds comes up.

Above the name of each offered seed, is a row of stars, and beside that row of stars is sometimes a phrase like "(2 wishlisted)".

Wouldn't it be nice if I could click on that phrase (2 wishlisted) and have a list of who is wishing for those seeds come up? Does that feature exist? If not, shall I ask @Dave? I'm overwhelmed with my home situation and it seems that this would be such a quick/convenient feature.

Thanking anyone in advance for their consideration of this question.

That's not information we are supposed to see, blue, by design. I think Dave answered this for someone last year. People would not necessarily appreciate having anyone know they are interested. Smiling The interest may be cursory and tentative and may not last, even if it is on a wish list. By the time dibbing starts, no one may be interested. I know my interests shift over the course of the swap several times. It should not make any difference who has expressed interest in the seeds, he who dibs first wins the selection, which is the point of the swap. Green Grin!

Ditto to what Alana said.

I know that I add and remove things before bidding begins.

Thanks for answering and clearing that up for me.

In the time before the present swap technology, I used to have fun granting wishes, and it was helpful at the time to keep track of to whom I gave what, so I could more evenly distribute my seeds among swap participants.

Is it just me, or does anyone else who has reached a certain pinnacle of years notice how the more years you live, the more layered life becomes? For example, I started life before television, when fewer things dangled with cords and plugs.

Hilarious!

I hear ya, blue, and I don't even think I'm old yet. But if you want to feel old, check out the Mindset List. It was started by a couple professors 20 years ago to help their colleagues understand the mindset of the incoming freshmen. Now it's an annual reminder that I'm getting ancient.

A little share-bird suggested that the WLOMWL swap is going to take place this year. @bluespiral, maybe you can satisfy your gifting impulses there. I have not looked yet but I will be checking in later where Kym usually posts Secret Santa in mid-November, too.

I don't know if she is with us this year, but we have one regular participant in this swap that wish lists everything she doesn't want, which eliminates all but a few varieties. And then, there are others with a system. They think if they don't wish list, others might not realize how popular a particular seed is and will put it further down their priorities list. Hilarious!

That's just too complicated for me - I wishlist what I want, so I won't forget it myself. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
I didn't see anything about Secret Santas last year. That sounds interesting...

First time I starred everything, thinking that would make it easier to know what had been added since my previous visit. Second time I 5 starred everything I wanted, then had to narrow things down. Still trying to figure out what system works best for me.

It took me a while to figure out how to work with this type of swap, and the whole thing, at first, seemed robotic. As a participant of Ella's piggy swaps, initially I was thinking I would take Ella's pig pen and barn door for recalcitrant swappers over a computer-managed swap any day.

So would I rather have Ella's pig pen or nftsr's software? Both. I'm enjoying the different ways in which trading can be conducted.

About pre-television times - does anyone else remember how much clearer night skies were in the late 40s, early 50s? I could see the Milky Way in Raleigh, NC, in 1952. And people talking to each other face to face on a porch at night minus cell phones? I remember the latter from my grandmother's porch across the road from the Petersham Commons in Massachusetts. By the way, if you google "dark skies" you might be able to find locations near you for star gazing.

I think another thing about not being able to see who has wishlisted seeds in the swap is to avoid anyone of being accused of playing favorites. Probably the only way to grant someone's wish is to check the thread that people use to write out everything they're looking for, then pm them privately. Or just add it to their pack of seeds at the end of the swap.

I think this year for marking the seeds I want, I'm marking everything im interested in with a 3, then each day I'll go through and bump about 20 up to a five then four for whichever ones I want most that day. I'd love a feature that would bring up similar seeds, during the swap. If 4 people have listed black hollyhocks, I only starred one of those people and theirs all get dibbed, i'd like to be able to quickly see the other offers without necessarily needing to wishlist all of the offers.

Rockpile, you may already know this, but just in case - to bring up a list of all sources for one plant -

-- Go to home page of swap, and click on "Access the full trade list for this swap."

-- Then, in the Search Box, type in the name of the plant you're interested in. You should then be able to see all the sources in the swap offering that plant and be able to compare which are still available, whether self-harvested, traded or bought, date of purchase or harvest, etc. I keep a tab open just for this purpose during a swap.

Sometimes, this doesn't work for me, so I go back to the swap home page and do it over again, which clears any previous searches I may have forgotten to clear.

Hope this was useful,

karen

Hey Bluespiral,

I have used that feature, helps when some people list things as imopea, while other list as morning glory.

It's just not quite fast enough when you're in the process of dibbing! Whistling

Rockpile - that's so true. Ironic how a convenience can morph into an obstacle, isn't it? I guess, with regard to these swaps, there will always be something new for me to learn - I'm becoming more appreciative of what this kind of swap is capable of.

So, with regard to facilitating one's own speed when dibbing, I guess a trader has to outsmart her/himself in advance of the actual dibbing process. Sticking tongue out
