Jo, I'm starting to pick up a fragrance with 'Sharry Baby'. Wonder if the flowers just needed time to mature a little? Lee

I have this theory that the flowers have to develop to be sexually mature before they send out c-mail blast into the universe (in the form of a scent).

My Sharry Baby is also blooming (outside). We noticed the scent come on stronger as time went on - it's been about two weeks now and they are really chocolatey now.

Also, as this is what caught my attention, my Twinkle is setting spikes for the second time this year. I'm really pleased. Smiling

Hello Kathleen, I would imagine you have a wonderful climate in which to grow and bloom orchids. The fragrance took about the same time for this orchid, Kathleen, to begin, to develop.
Congratulations on your 'Twinkle'. Do keep us informed about it and any others you have.
Lee I tip my hat to you.

Thanks for the welcome. My friend is Juliette - aka Julie-bug - our 9 year-old macaw.

Our climate is good for orchids in the shade. The problem is, we get freezing temps in winter, so they need cover during those months. I'm getting enough now (thank you, Trader Joe's) that I will need to clean up the greenhouse so I can move them there in winter. The phals and anything really tender are on the kitchen windowsill, which is the only place they can get both light and air. My sister in Oregon is the real orchid grower in the family and hopefully she will pop in here one of these days.

Very cool. You are so lucky to have a greenhouse. I'm envious! We'd love to meet your sister too!
