Are you sure about the ID of this lovely flowering aloe? I am wondering if it might be spinosissima, or another plant, instead. The main reason I say this is that the raceme of "Blue Elf" is sparsely flowered and the inflorescences here do not match the other photos. The rosettes look like spinosissima to me, but there are a few aloes in the ballpark, so it's hard for me to tell. Maybe you have some background info that would clarify this.

Please let me know what you think.

I was wondering about this one too. I have it, and it hasn't bloomed, but that wasn't the bloom I remembered when I researched the plant.

I also think that it may not be Aloe 'Blue Elf', the posture of the leaves is different and as mentioned above the inflorescence also is distinctly different.
Still a beautiful flowering Aloe, just not 'Blue Elf'.

I know there are plenty of pictures in the database but here is another one for direct comparison:

They were bought at Lowe's summer of 2017. They carry dozens and they were labeled Aloe Blue Elf. The grower is Altman Plants. I went to their website and checked their photos. It's either a aloe blue elf or maybe Aloe arborescens "Candelabra Aloe. They've only be in the ground for about a year and a half.

Thank you for this information. The inflorescence does not match "Blue Elf", whatever the leaves may tell you... it should be sparsely flowered (few flowers per unit raceme). Thijs has posted an informative picture of the flowers on "Blue Elf".

The inflorescences on your plant are perhaps a better match for spinosissima, another hybrid. Here are a couple of illustrations of spinosissima in bloom.

Aloe arborescens is a much larger plant than yours, but it is one of the parents of spinosissma, and imparts much of its character upon that hybrid.

We do not have an entry for Aloe spinosissima in the database because it's not a natural hybrid, but we do have a genus entry for Aloe, and that would be where I would recommend filing this image unless we can come up with a specific name that actually has an entry in the database. The genus entry is where the other images of Aloe x spinosissima can be found.

Aloes (Aloe)

I would like to propose moving this image to the genus entry for Aloe. What do you all think?

I have 2 Aloe Blue Elf putting up their flowering stalks. They are young, but I'll get photos of them when they bloom.
