I've grown iris since the 1970's and have always loved pinks. I've planted many of them over the years and found them beautiful but always wished they were "pinker". This one is pretty close to perfect in my eye. I love pinks from the blue side. 'Star Appeal' Ghio 2009

Oh that IS beautiful. I don't have any pink, because I am not a pastel type of person, but THAT one might make me change my mind. Thanks for posting it ~Jan

Wow, that is really true pink, most of them tend to be on the choral end of the color spectrum. My list keeps growing and growing!

Paul, the color of your STAR APPEAL is incredible! I wish it had looked like that for me... Here was my best picture of it in my garden last year -- not at all the same!
Thumb of 2012-05-19/Betja/54e49c

And of course you already know I have a favorite pink -- PICTURE BOOK! It's quite pastel, but boy is it ever beautiful and bubbly!

I hope others will post their favorite pinks -- this is fun!

Betty.....I have Picture Book coming this year on your recommendation. I'm pleased with Star Appeal and the color. I am surprised how much it differs from your pictures. I'm going to take more pictures tonight if it doesn't fold but more blooms are coming. Hollywood Star is starting to open and should be ready for the camera tomorrow. It looks promising but not quite as pink. Perhaps I am watching them to close *Blush* Lovey dubby No perhaps about it.....

Paul, our baking heat here really affects the colors of my irises, especially later in the season. It was up to around 100 at least twice during this year's season, and I'm just thankful that the flowers I had looked as good as they did. My DODGER BLUE and MERCHANT MARINE were more on the pale blue side, but I'll take it!

Now HOLLYWOOD STAR I like better. It didn't bloom this year and I almost decided to give it away, but I think I'll move it to my front yard instead, and maybe it will like it better. It had better color for me, and also a little more ruffling.

I like Guardian Angel also. It is pink from the coral side. Not the best stem this year.

I love the pinks being posted. Every time I go to a site to see the pinks, they are always sold out. But I'm not giving up, I'll find a pink and with your posts I'll google to see what I find. I tip my hat to you.

Is the pink in your picture the seedling you liked so much? And if so, can you tell me the hybridizer or what garden you saw it in? I like to try to be aware of what's coming. That's a beauty -- reminds me very much of PICTURE BOOK.

I read about this Iris on the National Gardening Association Irises forum. It was called "A perfect Pink Iris"! But every place I have gone to look for this Iris they call me crazy. They say there is no Iris by that name. So all I want to know is if there is an Iris by the name "A perfect pink Iris" where can I go to purchase one? And please go to the National Gardening Association and tell them they don't know what they are talking about since everyone tells me that there is no Iris by that name. Thank you

@cuzinzeek, i looked in the american iris society database, and there isn't a registered iris by that name. so if there's not one registered by that name, there wouldn't be a vendor selling it.

If you are talking about this iris from the late Paul, the name of it is Star Appeal, not the perfect pink iris. That's the name of the thread.
