Recently, while talking with a South African acquaintance, she mentioned about a houseplant she kept in Cape Town. It sounded very intriguing so I looked it up. Very interesting plant, which I think I would like to have but I don't know if it is available in Southern California (our weather is similar to Cape Town's, tough).

The NGA database has info on this Cape Sundew but it lacked a photo of the plant actually catching a fly; luckily, Wikipedia had this great shot (a CC photo - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...).

I also found this video, which shows how the plant catches a fly: https://upload.wikimedia.org/w...

Plants are so amazing! Lovey dubby

Edit, to add this page with lots of info on Cape Sundew: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
(I'm not into carnivorous plants but I do like this one 😄)

That is an amazing plant! It makes the Pitcher Plant seem rather benign. Interesting and a bit scary video!
