Does anyone have a more mature plant than mine? Mine was an unrooted offset, and has currently just started to grow into int 3" pot. I have read that this was a chance mutation culled out of a tissue culture batch of plants. It gets about knee high and kind of resembles a tayoensis without spines but with a more upright and more fully leafed out, thinner leaf form. It has apparently never yet been known to flower. Kind of an oddball little thing

I have wanted and I am always on the search for A. 'Stalker'. I think it's the way it grows and forms the little trunks that fascinates me.

Well, I got it from Tropiflora as a VIPP special. But it isn't listed in their 'regular' offerings. I read that it makes lots and lots of pups so there is a chance that if it ever gets more than 3 inches tall I might be able to share

I've never heard of it before, Tropiflora does get some unusual plants at times.

Sherri you can do a internet search and see the interesting different look. Sorta looks like a Bromeliad crossed with a Yucca.

Apparently its a Skotak plant that's been around since 2002. I have never seen it before. I read that it was a one-off that came from a tray of TC plants. I think it will be cool once it grows up. Its still very small. It has green leaves with a kind of rosy flush on them and almost feels like a succulent.

I saw it at a plant show a few years ago with a few inches of trunk and could not believe it was a Bromeliad. I immediately knew I had to have one.
I saw 'Shelldance' at the same show also with a few inches of trunk. 'Shelldance' has been slowly growing. I doubt I will ever see the trunk that is capable of.
Aechmea 'Little Harv' has quickly produced a clear trunk of 18".

I have tons of bromeliads and over the years have had only a few die on me, Shelldance was one of them. Sighing!

Gina, I was surprised with the trunking also as I had never seen it in pics. I had read they can 3'-4' tall, but I figured that was including the flower spike at flowering.
Here is a complete photo showing the 18" trunk (stem). Total height from soil level to top leaf tips now 47".

That is something, and I've never seen a trunk like that on a brome.

AhHa, so the name Stalker refers to the height of the stalk? I was thinking the other kind of stalker. Hilarious!

I am starting to second guess here that this is actually A. "Little Harv". I have looked at a lot of online photos of "Little Harv" in recent days and could not find any showing any type of a trunk/stem.
Here is a photo of a 2yr old pup removed in the fall. This one has a 4" trunk/stem presently.

Hmmm, very interesting, so the trunk is a characteristic of the plant, since offset is getting one also.
