I am pruning the ridiculous amount of containers I've gathered over the years. Yes, years. I have everything from plastic seed starter kit, boo-koos of nursery pots (small and large), ceramic pots, etc., etc.. Anybody want to add to their own ridiculous collection?

Reminds me of a sign I made for a garage sale...

I'm "potted" but thanks for the invite, Alma.

I sold a ton of nursery pots on Craigslist for $10 (about 50-75). They didn't cost me anything as they were the biproduct of the plant I bought, but I saw that nurseries were selling those pots, so why not?

Alma, I would love, love, love to take some of these off your hands if the offer is still open. As you know, I'm starting pretty much from scratch (again) and don't even have a single black pot - for the first time in about 20 years. Had to pick one up off the side of the road to put my one, lonely tomato plant in, lol.

Do I sound pitiful enough???

Look around you where you see landscapers planting for others and I bet if you asked, they'd be glad to give them to you. Just yesterday, the man that does my prunning and mulching gave me about 2 dozen 4 in. pots. plus the tray they fit in. I'll wash them in diluted clorox water sometime this weekend.
I need to get out and water the plants that he planted for me yesterday..2 peonies,3 iris and a daylily.
Watered them yesterday afternoon after they left but it's supposed to be in 90's all weekend, was 89 yesterday so I'm sure they'd appreciate another drink.

Sheryl, I bet if you posted your request for free pots on a forum that is in your gardening area, you'd get some donations. It's worth a try! Last Fall one of the gals on the our Mid-Atlantic gardening forum posted an offer to give away nursery pots and I was either the first to respond or only one. I had met this lady at my first plant swap and she sent an email asking what size I wanted..and the next morning I went and picked them up. all sizes with my name on them sitting in front of her garage. I bet there was about 30 or 40..doesn't take much to make me happy! Sent her an Email back to Thank Her and also wrote a Thank You note and mailed it to her.

I know that Home Depot "recycles" the black pots.. You can probable ask them. A few years ago when I only had about 30-40 roses & didn't know about burying them up to their eyeballs to protect them from the winter, what I did is find a landscaper who was putting in a ton of 3 gal shrubs. I asked them if I could have their buckets & they were estatic to have me take them! I cut the bottoms off of each one, put the now hard-plastic cone around the rose, and filled each one with mulch. Worked like a charm. Not practical for me to do that now.. Got too many roses to do that to!

Sheryl, yes I do still have plenty! Sorry to be so long getting back to you, but I was busy with the yard sale. And now I'm busy packing it all up to give away. Sad We took a truckload to the AZ Humane Society thrift store yesterday. My next writing project will have the title: "How to Stuff a House"! Big Grin Shoot me a treemail; I'll get it sooner and we can get you started with some pots!

P.S. The "garden goodies" for sale did not include plastic pots: they are FREE! And can you believe it: here in my irrigated neighborhood, not one person expressed an interest in plants, pots or gardening. Crying

Seems odd. I guess if they're not using the irrigation rights that's a good thing re saving water for those who do garden to use.
