In my last post, I didn't say where I'm gardening - sugar land for the last 6 years. Previously I was in Beaumont. I've transferred most of my plants from there.

I'm hoping to attend plant swaps close by, since I've got some plants to swap. Do enjoy meeting swappers face to face.

Lots of Gloriosa lilies. They are one of my favorites.
My lilies are budding and the LA irises are finishing up.

Thank you! I live in East Texas around Shelby County area. We get very severe storms here, one predicted for tomorrow night. And i do not know why most of the storms we get seem to always come in the night! Shrug!

Because it takes them that long to move in toward you, chuckl. Temps also control storms as we get them when fronts blow in. Waving! I picked the closest city to me to claim where I am, but live out in the county, too. We forget to browse the threads of our forums and see new postings and that is why folks forget to show up to wave.

I'm new to the forum from North Texas 7b near Wichita Falls. Year-round vegetable garden (use low-tunnels with heat lamps in winter) growing greens, melons, squashes, cukes, beans, eggplant and herbs mostly heirlooms from India, Thailand, Asia, Italy and some USA. Also heirloom plums. 2023 addition will be prickly pear cactus (love the juice!)
See y'all in the forum!
BeckyWTX. I tip my hat to you.

Paperwhites are blooming, oxalis never dies, but does retreat, seen new spots blooming, have a few maculata aloes survived, not uncovered from dead mush yet - too soon, need to get ready to trim the butterfly iris back...sago fronds are dying still, but the crown may have survived. I have other bulbs coming up, but those blasted crinums went frozen to ground level, may TRY digging them back...I may have to try swamp gardening by the time March gets here...

I ran into Marty from Houston and a lot of DG people from the DFW area at the NPSOT sale this morning. Would have been nice to see you @tx_flower_child . I did let them know this forum doesn't cost money.

I missed that (Native Plant Society of Texas sale), in favor of a less than stellar plant sale courtesy of TTU ag school. How was it this year?

I really enjoyed it, tables full of plants and the early bird line was at least 75 ft long. I stayed almost an hour after opening, till the tables were getting empty and the checkout line was that long. I don't think many growers had to take plants home.

OOOps Pyewacket, chuckl, sorry about that. Gypsi, we did like DG organization of forums til they changed it, but that was coming anyways. Soggy outside and I am procrastinating...

@Gypsi - I'm back. And there's one more native plant sale left that I know about. May 25 from 4 - 7 (I think - check their website for the real story) at the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park in Dallas. Should be good.

@tx_flower_child I am unlikely to make that one, I have to dig a new flowerbed to get my current pots into the ground, had way too much fun at the sale in Arlington.
Did get to see a lot of old friends there, but unfortunately many of them haven't joined this forum. They all joined NPSOT though

@Gypsi I totally understand. Have to say that the Arlington NPSOT sale is my favorite. But glad I missed such a long early bird line.

I did go to a sale (my first in years) a few weeks ago that the Dallas County Master Gardeners held. Only 9 people in line ahead of me so for maybe the first time ever I was on time.

Came home with plants that I didn't know I had selected. And not all were Texas natives. But I did get a Frostweed and should have gotten more than one. I did get some other plants that bloom later than most. Figured the pollinators would like them in the fall, assuming we have Fall this year. Of course now I haven't been able to transplant any of these guys due to rain.
