Winter is fading fast and the wildflowers are popping up everywhere. There's a saying that, "in Texas everything either bites, stings, pokes, or is poisonous". I assure you that's not true. The stachys drummondi is completely harmless.

The agarita, however, is another story. Each leaf has several dagger-sharp points, but the butterflies manage to avoid them.

The puccoons in the front pasture produce sweet little flowers. But you have to get down close to their level in order to appreciate their frilly edges.



Of course when I do that, I usually get sandburrs in my knee. Rolling on the floor laughing

I've not seen or heard of puccoons- I do like those frilly edges -very cute.
