Ah, my lycastes still have (ratty) leaves! My cymbidiums are still spiking. And I can't blame it on the Florida winter. And then there's my garden that's 3 weeks early. Hmmmm.

Paphiopedilum spicerianum.
I really love the interesting dorsal sepal on spicerianum. Unfortunately the plant flowered only once for me and and then "declined".

Btw, we would like to have Orchids blooming year around and since I usually posted the month of when the picture was taken, it should give you a good indication when these Orchids are generally in bloom!

Bulbophyllum medusae -
picture taken in December 2008. The plant had 11 spikes that time and bloomed itself to death. ( If that is possible)

I've had orchids do that too. Todd was the first person to tell me a plant will do that.

And here I thought I had a really good excuse when one of my Orchids kicked the bucket....

Here is one which almost expired due to extensive snail damage a few Summers ago.
Aerangis luteo alba var. rhodosticta picture taken December 2006

Luckily it recovered, filled out its basket some more and looks ready to bloom again.)

That reminds me, Ursula and anyone who has slug problems....I spoke with Roger West recently. He has eliminated his slug issues by putting an inch strip of flat copper sheeting all the way around each leg of his shelves and has no more slugs in his pots. Apparently they cannot cross the strip. He has been doing this for a few years with great success.

I have had luteo alba on my want list for several years. Andy does not have it. It's the most beautiful Aerangis, IMO. How cool to have luteo alba blooming on the heels of citrata!

My plant was part of a beautiful Christmas present years ago and had its origin at Hoosier Orchids. Yes, too bad they closed up shop.

picture taken December 2006, it shows the hinged lip in down-position. This one blooms every couple of years for me.

picture taken in January 2008, the plant blooms several times a year. ( RHS doesn't seem to show it registered, as far as I looked)
