I plopped this bare root Maranta into the pond over a week ago and its doing GREAT

Wow, Gina, I didn't know they could grow like that. I have one doing just ok in soil in the greenhouse. I might have to try it in water.

Well, this is an EXPERIMENT, ya know? I wouldn't rush in with a whole plant if its the only one you have. This was a $3.99 Exotic Angel cheepie. I have another (older) one growing in soil as well, and it does not bush and stand upright. It tends to have a prostrate, almost creeping habit across the ground. It does't stand up and 'pray'.
But in my research on Riparium and Paludarium plants, Marantha, Calathea and Ctenanthe were listed as being used. So I decided to try it. So far, so good!

It sounds like it's going to work. I'd think a week would have shown problems if it was unhappy. I'll wait a while, and please give us a later update.
