Has anyone had any experience transplanting larkspur seedlings? I didn't realize larkspurs grew so tall but I love them and there are some seedlings that have popped up and are about 6-8 inches tall right now. I've heard that larkspurs don't like to be transplanted but am willing to try to move the shorter ones now. I also have some seeds I gathered from my own plants last year. Do you think they would bloom this year if I direct seeded them now? What if I topped them off at a certain height, to avoid the 5 ft. ones getting any taller, would that work?

Gardening is just "Trial and Error" methods anyway. A gardener is always learning new and better things. Newbie gardeners learn from veteran gardeners..Thanks!

Just looked on T's flowers and things website and Teresa sells dwarf larkspurs. Putting that on my wish list today.

I transplant the larkspur all the time , the smaller the better. They do not reach the heights they do if left undisturbed. Usually about 2/3 the height of the undisturbed ones

I just realized after posting that I am on the perennial forum . The larkspur I have pictured are the annual type .
I have not transplanted the perennial type before
