Thread OP

When I was a child in KY, my grandmother, Jennilynn Lowrey worked with an iris hybridizer and created and named an iris for me, the Felicia Lynn. I was able to find a bit of info on the hybridizer, but I would love to find a plant for my garden. Anyone know where I might find it?

Welcome! to the iris forum felicia lynn.

sorry, i haven't heard of the hybridizer before. but, i don't know too many except those that are on the west coast, are currently hybridizing, or have popular new irises.

however, if you know where slade has/had his gardens you might find out if there's an iris society, and write to inquire if anyone in that area grows 'felicia lynn'? it looks as though he may have been from the kentucky area?

there maybe others on this forum more knowledgeable than i, who might be able to help?

Welcome to the iris forum! Welcome!

Good luck finding your namesake iris! Daphne, great suggestion! Felicia Lynn, Kentucky is part of Region 7 of the American Iris Society, here is a link to their website with contact information if you choose to contact them: https://www.aisregion7.org/

Here's another possible lead: On the wiki iris site, the lone photo you shared is "c. Larry Harder". Mr. Harder was a hybridizer from Nebraska: http://wiki.irises.org/Main/Bi.... Perhaps he grew and shared that iris? Nebraska is part of Region 21 of the AIS. Here is a link to their webpage: https://aisregion21.org/

And if you still can't locate 'Felicia Lynn', we can add it to the "Wanted" thread: The thread "Wanted: these hard to find irises" in Irises forum

Another option is to contact HIPS (Historic Iris Preservation Society), and see if one of the members there, may be able to help. There is, quite often, someone looking for help in finding an older plant, Here's a link to the "contact form":
