The area just to the left of Black Eyed Stella. The red flowers and the white you see are single flowered roses and the blue is catmint.

I wish I could grow roses well. A few grow in the area, but not many grow well except for some very old varieties.

My best rose is NEW DAWN which grows up the side of my cottage. Great clean foliage too.

Those tomatoes are growing like gangbusters! Ah, the difference between LI and north of Boston. Mine went in Mon. Tiny still of course!

Heavy rains coming here today. And raining most all week I hear.

I know what you mean Rita. I certainly would too if I had the room. I did buy one this year that I have not heard of before to try. It's called Heartland. Have you ever heard of that one before. I also bought a Bonnie Best, an Amish Paste tomato and an heirloom called Black Prince.

I was just out admiring my tomato plants today. They do just look so nice. Green Grin! Thumbs up Admiring my bean plants also which are growing like crazy. Those all were started from seed. And I have cucumbers in ground for as long as I have had the tomatoes out and those were bought as seedlings. But right now I am starting some cucumber seed myself of China Long Chinese cucumbers and also Armenian Cucumbers. Also starting the melon seeds.

Pat (my wife) bought a lot of tomato seeds of many different tomatoes from Johny's Selected Seeds. I planted eleven different tomatoes this week - hot hybrids and old favorites - just to see how they do. Her plants were just at the right stage to plant and they already are showing new leaves and growth. I am so impatient with tomatoes - I want some juicy red ripe tomatoes tomorrow.

HMMMMM! Black Cherry tomatoes???? I haven't heard of them. I'll have to give them a look. I bought a gold plant this year to go with my favorite red ones. I'm like you, very few get inside. I was looking at mine yesterday and they are alot more prolific than last year, so maybe a few will get inside.

I too, loooooove the last lily. That's beautiful!

Viva Italia
Better Boy
Mortgage Lifter
Super Beefsteak
Forth of July
Suggery
Sweet 100
Sungold
Big Boy
Cherokee Purple
Patio
Better Bush
Early Girl
Parks Whopper

My cucumber list of varieties I am growing this year is also pretty great. I am growing-
Burpless
Straight Eight
Marketmore
Salad Bush
China Long
Armenian Melon Cucumbers
Palace King

Only five types of beans-
Blue Lake
Spanish Musica
Chinese Yard Long Red Noodle

Plus afew other things. Then I am planning to do a fall crop on some cool season veggies like peas, brocoli and greens. I have never tried fall cropping them, just have done the usual spring planted in the past. But already have my seeds and am definately doing a fall crop this year. We will see how that works out.

I put up my cucumber trellis in the backyard the other day so I am ready for vertical gardening! Big Grin Green Grin! nodding

I like this shot looking accoss the daylily beds in the back yard. That bed in front has the asiatic lilies planted between the clumps and those are starting to bloom. Along the path you can see the trellis I put up for my cucumber and melon seedings.
