Love the photos Dana. Colorado can be a very challenging place to grow semps. Nice job.

You're too funny.. Hilarious!

I will probably go with your approach of potting them first and then moving offsets to more exposed elements once they start producing.

Hello Dana and all - just now seeing this, so funny and true!! I live in an apartment - not owned by me - I rent! Ooops indeed the first couple years I lost semps in the winter (due to rain)
At first I was like "ah man I'm not a good plant pops" but I know that isn't true!
So I went online to see what info there was - it was in November, by January I was committed to driving with a stranger (who says her name is Julia, but hey how do I know there aren't people hiding in the back of her vehicle! Hilarious! Shrug! ) TO Salem OR (who do I know in Salem???) And meeting this wonderful group of people, who by the way are full on enablers!
Haha Before going to the clinic I had a few maybe 6 different cultivars, but within a year, I had 100 or more, now I have 500 or more Crazy! I'm writing this just to say we are all going through or have gone through the same thing! nodding
Enjoy Dana! Group hug I tip my hat to you.

After a lot of back and forth in my mind this week, Dana, I decided on putting all my new additions into the semp bed along my driveway, then I looked at the weather for my 5 day break. 5 straight days of rain! Grumbling

Maybe that is my sign I should pot this round of semps up Thinking

I was looking for easy ideas for a plant stand and found this which I might try..

Jesse et al.

The great thing about pot gardening is the exercise one gets every time the weather bugs out and swings from 80 + sunny to 30 + 3' of snow in 2 hours. Purists in this practice only will carry two pots at a time while walking at a brisk pace.

I love that pot stand idea and will be trying to emulate it with these slightly different cinder blocks:

Wondering if I can make some kind of vertical semp planting work along the outside walls...

I don't think I've crossed the 100 variety clinically significant marker yet but I'll get there this summer. These plants are somehow simultaneously on the bottom and the top of the food chain. Fascinating. Makes me want more.

Okay Jesse, you are trying to get me in trouble now. You know how much I love cinder blocks. I bet that is how my night will be spent, dreaming about all the different ways I can use those blocks. Love the potting bench and
And this one. I can see those set up for next years Hybridizing Clinic. Hurray!
