Thread OP

I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
i am encourntering a probllem after approval of the plants I have entered to put pictures.
I see that plants are approved and can reach the main entry throught the page listing the approvals for images and plants BUT I cannot find the plants back with the searching engine of the Database. In this case I get 'matches not found'.
First and before going any further I would like to know why I cannot reach the plants approved and I think that if I cannot reach the plant through the searching engine nobody does.
Rght now I have two plant for which I wanted to post pictures that I cannot reach :Iris Volupté (Dee & Pollyk) and Paeonia 'Late Wind Flower'.
With many thanks for your explanations and help.

C,
I just did a search for Iris Volupte and reached the plant with no problem. I did not add the acute mark over the e, however. That mark might be preventing you from reaching it.

I also found Late Wind Flower by searching: peony Late Wind Flower. There's an entry for it, but not an image.

I had no problem with the search.

Thank you Sharon. I will try without putting the accent on the e of Volupté and going to try again for Paeonia Late Wnd Flower but I have been trying many times before withtout success and as I did not find the plants back I even put some twice (irises). I am not a very patient person...overall with computers.
Will revert if no results.

Hi Clus,
Can you provide an example of what exactly your searches were. I've had problems when copying the 'Cultivar' name with the single quotation marks. When I type them or omit them this problem goes away.

In addition an issue I had with a new computer and Windows 7 was resolved as discussed in this thread. The thread "Lilium ‘Starlette’ search" in Plant Database forum

This post notes the solution.
eclayne said:Dave, I thought I had copied and pasted from web to my inventory, then to the search feature. Typed all in to check but single quotes still not working. New computer, W7, so will see if I can find out what's up. Never ran across this before.

P.S. I don't recall using the back tick before. Have to find out what it's for. Green Grin!

Edit: O.K. got it for both Starlette and Rosella's Dream. Pressing Left Ctrl + Shift. Resets keyboard or something.

I'm sorry you are having issues with it, Clusiana.
I hope your next attempt is successful!

Edit: Thanks Evan. I have an iMac, so I can't resolve those kinds of technical issues, even if I were a 'technie', which I am so not!!

Sorry and thank you Eclayne. It was not working, it works now. I do not understand why but it does. I have Windows Vista. Not obvious, good and bad together. IMac should have been a much better choice I think.

If it's newly approved, it sometimes takes a while for the database to update and include it in a search. You were probably searching before that happened.
I corrected your peony entry to reflect the correct cultivar name as 'Windflower' but even typing with 2 words brings up the entry.

While you are waiting for the database to catch up with new entries, you can find any new entries from your profile page or the Private system messages also found on your profile.

Thank you Sue. Smething wrong with me I always want things going faster than the wind!
I feel better now as after having putting pictures in a comment and then searching with no result I was wondering what was going wrong with me!
Thanks again

Hurray! Yeah, the problem is resolved. Good explanations, I just learned I can access the new entry from my Profile page and not have to wait. Hurray!

Thank you all for the answers. And Catherine thank you for asking the question so I could learn something new. Thumbs up

You never have to wait, Lynn, even if you don't feel like looking through the personal messages on your profile page. They enter the database immediately, so if you just browse the alphabetical pages and look on the page where the entry's supposed to be, you'll find it. They take a while to be registered by the search engine, but they're in the database before that.

Yep, that's what I often do too.
And on your profile page under Plant Database Contributions, your plants are listed in the order you entered them, newest ones at the top so that's a quick way to access them.
