We saw this very tall tree at the Winchester grounds yesterday, rising so high above the palms, but with such nice foliage...does anybody know what tree this is?

From a distance it looks like a Monkey Puzzle tree, can't be sure withour seeing the 'foliage' closer. There might be something else similar.

How about Araucaria cunninghamii?

The growth habit of that is more sparse ..

Thanks Janet, it does resemble the Monkey puzzle tree..maybe next time we will try to see if we can get nearer to it, it was on the cordoned off side so I just had to do a long shot. It was said the owner of Winchester imported exotic plants and have it planted in their gardens..so maybe that's why it looked so strikingly unsual to see. Thanks again!
