I recently visited my son in Northwest Texas where this tree was blooming everywhere. Can anyone tell me what it is?

First guess
Chilopsis linearus
, Desert Willow:
http://aggie-horticulture.tamu...
. Second guess, or the supposed intergeneric hybid
X Chitalpa tashkentensis

I'm going to go so far as to guess that the cultivar you've got there is 'Bubba'. The blooms are darker than the species.
