This Pleasant EarlyBird is half the height and very pale in bloom. I blame everything on March-April reverse weather.
Thumb of 2012-06-05/ge1836/1ea5a1

Half as tall as last year and washed out color.

Here's a beauty that started blooming a couple of weeks ago next to the gray water drain in my garden. I don't know its name and I don't even remember planting an iris there.

Love ALL the pics, including your Pleasant Earlybird Jo Ann. Green Grin! Good luck with the rest. LI Sinfonietta and a huge NoID opened today. Will get pics tomorrow.

Love the color on that surprise zuzu. We should all be so lucky. Connie, are the first two pics of Coho day one of bloom? The pink seems a bit more intense than the 3rd pic. Dee, are you breeding with Gubijin?

Evan, yes! The third picture is of a filled out mature bloom. I think I will edit my post to indicate that. I was going to do that when I first posted but it doesn't take much to side track my brain!

Thanks Connie. I've noticed while looking at sellers sites, (and ATP and Cubits) that both form and color can be hugely variable. I know some of that is conditions and figured some was age. Coho was one I remembered when looking at pinks.

Thanks, what a treat.

This is my first Pseudata Paul and it was planted the first week of April, 2012. Of those I planted this spring Okagami and Enfant Prodige look to be the only to bloom. They're obviously water lovers so what I did was plant it deep, like Polly describes in her beardless culture article. In addition to that I left the soil level of the hole about 2" below the surrounding soil to make a bowl. In early May I top dressed with composted cow manure which I covered with shredded leaves. I'll take a pic of the "clump" tomorrow. You'll chuckle at the size.
