Last year I discovered them on one of the lilies I have here. I've been checking that same group of lilies but don't see any
this year so far. When do you typically see them on the stems, ie June, July,August?

Thanks

I have them developing now on a tiger lily that hasn't bloomed yet. Some years seem to produce more bulbils than others.
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

If they have it within their genes to do so, yes.

i am in zone 4, and none of my bulbil producers have begun yet. They don't all begin at the same time, either.

As Moby alluded to, some types only produce bulbils under certain conditions that are not the yearly normal.

My first year stems of Lilium lancifolium 'Splendens' (the common orange tiger lily) are covered with bulbils, some already approaching pea-size.

These plants are growing in my front parking strip which gets a lot of foot traffic. Some horrid individual snapped off all of the buds from one of the stems and now its bulblets are getting HUGE, much larger than the stems which still have developing buds intact.

I got rid of my tiger lilies because they got to be a bit too much for my small space. Some of my LO's are starting to produce some little bulbs.

My neighbor gets very frustrated with all the bulbils "seeding" around from his Tiger lilies (Lilium lancifolium). Last year he asked me if he could just cut them down before the bulbils fall off. Since this lily is so vigorous, I told him to give it try, but flowering won't be as abundant the following year. He has about 50 plants, and I meant for him to do it to some, but he cut them all. This year the plants look to be the same size as last, but it's too early to evaluate flowering.

This is my first year with tiger lilies and they have bulbils. When do you pick them off? How long will it take for it to fully mature for blooming?

I pick my little bulbs off when the stem dies. Some of them bloom the next year others just put up a tiny stem.

I've found one stalk with some on it while I was checking around the garden taking photos. It hasn't bloomed yet so don't know which
lily it is. I also have lots of babies this year with what looks to be single blooms on them. Should I let them bloom or take the buds off? Confused

I always let mine bloom and then cut off the spent flower. Works fine for me.

Unless the plant(s) look stressed in some way, I'd let it bloom. As long as you hadn't planted them just this year or last fall, they should have everything they need for yours and their happiness.

After all, most people grow lilies for the flowers... Big Grin
