I finally finished the front yard, moments before a hail storm. Hopefully the annuals in the flower beds bounce back. I used a lot of pink in the front yard and purple in the back yard. Here's some shots from this morning (after the hail yesterday)

I tip my hat to you. I still have a bit more work in the back yard, but almost finished. Hubby has promised to build a side garden shed, so I'm tossing a bunch of pots & trays I don't use and have collected over the years. I had a number of big pots with old potting soil and that is the biggest job to get rid of. I put a lot of it in the flower beds, but now I need to find somewhere to dump the rest. Of course it is pouring rain so it won't happen today.

send the rain down to Md/DC area..love the look you created in the front of the house. What do you have climbing on that trellis in front? Can't wait to see the back yard..hope you'll post your pictures of that too. Your gardens are always so beautiful!

Here's a few shots of the back yard. We have had a cool wet spring and as soon as we get some heat, the roses should start to open.

It's looking great Joanne. I wish you could send me some "cool and wet". It's 92°, and we've only had 0.9" of rain so far in June. Confused

Beautiful garden scenes. We are having 90 deg. plus weather this week and the poor plants in the greenhouse are cooking. It is 106 deg. in there now and the fan is on, doors were open all night but the sun is just baking everything. Too hot to water. It will just evaporate and we do not have that much water to waste. Stay well and hydrated. Big Grin

Do you have a way to shade your greenhouse, JB? Someone on another thread was talking about tossing shade cloth over their greenhouse to cool it down a bit. Wish I could come up with a way to throw a little shade on mine, but my dogs would probably destroy anything I tried to set up. Rolling my eyes.

I have had the shade cloth on it since February this year. The sun has been much stronger it seems all winter. It was burning some things in early Spring and so I just put the shade on it. The fans are blowing hot air around. Temps. are just too hot and I am just a few miles inland too far to get any benefit from the ocean breeze. It is not strong enough right now to cool us down. I spray early morning or late afternoon each day not too much to make it rot or mold, just to cool it down. I also keep the doors open at night so it does cool down some before the sun comes out. The plants seem to be fine so far. Storms ar to bring rain later today. We can only hope.
The gardenias are turning brown before they even open. Need to get the fish emulsion on them today if possible and it is not too hot. I can not spray them or it will burn them so I will put it in the soil.
Off to start the day with a HOT smile. Have a great day Group hug

I haven't put shade cloth on, but I do take the doors off and open the vents during the day. Also have fans running all the time. We don't get extreme hot temps, so having the air movement seems to be ok. I have some heat lovers in there. Hoping that the moonvine and butterfly pea vine actually produce flowers for me. In past years, I have not had flowers on either when planted outside, so we will see. I nights are very cool, even when we have hot days. I also have some peppers, basil and tomatoes in the GH.

Great looking greenhouse....wish mine was so tidy. LOL. Good luck with your weather. It is really changing here again today. Storms constantly and hail and oh just so much rain and wind. Later. JB

I agree That is a very nice looking GH! I wish I had spent the money to get one as nice. Mine is more of a wood-framed shed with clear siding. And it is a wasp magnet! Lots of little nooks and crannies for them to hide their nests in. I have mine buttoned up for the summer. Heh, heh, the heat inside will kill off any remaining vermin. Big Grin
We've been getting a LOT of rain, but fortunately not the hail that has been typical the last few years, so things are soaked, but not destroyed!
