It looks like a sedum. I agree with Sandi, sure wouldn't hurt to give it a try with part of the plant. Just watch for color change like it is sun scalding.

Or melting away in high humidity. Houston Garden Centers, and the big box stores, might put out plants in full sun when they expect a high turnover but if you return in August you're likely to find lots of dead plants if they haven't moved them to some shade. Have seen it happen here. Crying
