Can someone please tell me if this vine needs a trellis with very thin supports? Or will it climb a pole that is about 1/2" thick, or even thicker?

I have Thunbergia coccinea, it is a more rare form but not as pretty as Thunbergia myesorensis. I know there are other Thunbergias as well like the blue one. Mine has to have a very large strong support because it just goes wild.
