I've bought Phygelius 'Cherry Ripe' from High Country Gardens several years ago. I was thrilled to find it as it seems to be the only Phygelius that isn't listed as zone 7 and warmer. All other Phygelius I have to plant into containers.
I planted it directly into my garden in well drained soil and mulched it. It has beautiful red blooms and I love it!
I've planted it near from front steps, so I can enjoy it more. I don't cut any stems as it gets closer to Fall, as I want to insure that it makes it through the Winter and into late Spring Freezes.
