All very nice Rose. Interesting that I read the Embroidery mutation was induced by radiation and does not tissue culture properly so it is not easily found. It is also sterile and does not set seed so you can not use it to breed for the look.

I am so green with envy. I have a question. I don't have much shade in my yard but have a shaded potting area in the edge of our woods. I walk thru a hayfield, would you suggestion making a raised bed? Underbrush would need to be cleared but I would like to landscape a bit. It is very relaxing. I love hearing the birds there.

It does not need to be a deep shaded area for hostas, morning sun and partially shaded in the afternoon.

Sounds like it would make a great little hideaway. Like RJ said let them get some early sun. Are there any trees with aggressive roots like maples that can take over a raised bed. Hope it turns out just the way you want it and of course some pics showing your progress. My Hosta raised garden is one of my favorite now.

I am looking for plants for my Window Box on the deck which gets partial shade. So I am looking at dwarf or miniature plants to put in the Window Box
with an Asparagus Fern. Are there minature or dwarf hostas??

@Willinator

Yes! You can find a listing for mini and small hosta on hostalibrary.org. Don Rawson has a list for different sized plants.

Or, you can look at the thread on here "Show your favorite mini hosta!"

My hosta are starting to show some stress from the summer heat and humidity, so good pictures will be harder to come by.

Here'sa couple from yesterday

I've been working on my mini bed. I have moved some of the plants that got bigger than I expected out and planted minis in their place. I'm still working on it. I also added a little bit of yard art to the bed.

Looks great Rose, love the fish a nice pop of color.
Rose has your Road Rage started looking like one yet or does it take a couple of seasons. RJ I believe you also have one.

I received the Galaxy from Uniquely Hostas and it is a nice size with pretty good root system. It is a bit eaten up but they gave me a choice of the 2 that they had . One with no damage and not much streaking or one with streaking but slugs got to it. I went with the streaking,

Pistache not looking much like the pictures . Also thinking of cutting off the larger leaves that are not looking very good. This is the one I thought had very small roots for the size of the plant.

How About That the new leaves on this one are showing a lot of streaking.

I'll check my Road Rage today. When I planted them they weren't very impressive. I'm hoping for better looking next year. My Blue Lettuce was really nice for two years, but Southern Blight got it last year. I treated it and moved it to a different location. This year it has none of the cupping or roughness on the leaves. Your plant is really nice RJ! Mine survived the treatment and the move, so maybe next year it will start looking nice again.

I tried Pistache twice in my gardens because I really liked the looks. It must not have liked me!

Here's one of my Road Rage plants that I got this year. Mine were only 3 1/2" pot sized plants. There's a few dimples on the bottom leaves. Mine have a lot of growing to do to catch up to your plants!

Question about Hollers Purple Flash...

I planted mine in a spot that gets a little morning sun and then shade all day. My purple veining has disappeared. Is this one like First Blush and loses it's color as the season progresses? Or, is it in too much shade?

What do you define as a Road Rage plant Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling

Of course depending on what this is I don't know how it would do here in hot and humid Houston, TX

I do have a lot of road rage Grumbling I bought 3 of these plants this year Big Grin

This is a hosta named Road Rage. My advice again would be to check your local nurseries or garden centers to see if they're selling hosta. You could also look around your neighborhood to see if anyone else grows them. You may be a little too far south for this perennial.

Well Yes, @Rose1656 Rose there is a really big difference between Houston, TX (zone 9a) and Oquawka IL (zone 5a) So I do wonder about
both Hostas and Heucheras and I will have to check in with Buchanan's Nursery which is one of my favorites locally.
