Dot, was Casper's broken toes recently? I sure hope he healed and is fine. They are beautiful babies. If you can keep them looking this great, you must be able to do a lot of brushing. The are so clean and fluffy, not all tangled up like mine would be. That's the reason I have a short haired cat. The one that adopted us last fall, Red Willy, has longer hair(not like yours but long) but he stays outside most of the time. This is his choice, not ours. He has lost a boat load of hair since Spring. He looks fine and healthy but he sure has lost a lot of hair and I noticed last night that he has a few scratched spots, so he probably will be going to the vet next week. Of course our old cat, Munchkin stays out about 50% of time and always has. He's a kin folk to a Blue Russian, just another adpoted one, but he has their personality. Independent to the extreme. He is about 15 years old and is just now starting to like being loved on. I think that's because he sees Red Willy getting love so he wants some too!!
I've tried to get them to stay in during our really hot days last week, but the silly things choose to stay out and to top that, they laid on the concrete driveway where it was the hottest. I guess they like it hot.
My DH planted a small pack of corn seeds in May and we have babied these stalks for 2 months. They actually HAD corn on them and we were looking so forward to having it for the birds this winter. Well, as plans go, this one changed last night. It appears that the coons got into it. They broke all the stalks with corn on it down to the ground and ate the baby ears. I guess that's why most folks plant so darn much corn. Some for them, and some for the animals. The birds have got just about all of my big tomatos. And this after I've turned the water on everyday for them to play in. Ungratefull darn birds! I guess they think I planted those big red sweet water balls for them. Atleast they left the little ones for me.
After seeing DH's corn this morning, I walked up into my sea of pots and was looking at all the seed pods. I had a terrible thought, do coons like to eat seed pods??? they could be considered peas, I guess, and I felt just plum sick!!! Everyone would hear about the mad woman in Guntown, MS that killed every Coon in the county and is spending a few years in mental prison for the old gardeners that lose it after an animal induced daylily seed pod disaster!
