Tina, one of the nice things about daylilies is that they can "cater" to whatever mood we are in that year.

I started off by collecting red daylilies. Then I realized I had to many reds - so then I started adding more colors. Then decided the toothed daylilies are pretty cool. And who can resist a spider. And big ones- I LOVE those big huge flowers.

And this year, I discovered the mini's.....

Still haven't gotten my first "prism", and doubles - I only have one. It will probably be years before I quit collecting! ~Jan

... i can hardly tear my eyes away from the exploding internet DL extravaganza/learning that you all have gifted me into doing!! a million more questions loom, and my jaw drops as you all somehow start answering those questions before i can even untangle my mind enough to ask *huge grin* ... special thanks to reassurance about starting out with big boxers; they are the only ones i could get for the 'quick fix' that's held me over till i got here, and gives me a chance to learn first-hand about tending DLs, getting an eye for where and how to place them, and seeing if i can pick up the skill of informal pod setting with them (unless that cell culture thang makes it impossible?) .... altogether so much joy you have each given me (and hoping to keep learning here) Hurray! my private replies are waiting only on my jaw to un-drop and my fingers to uncramp from all the fun i'm having exploring! Group hug

very special thanks for the direct and indirect help you've given on nudging me toward my holy-grail DL:

My Perfect Daylily, Updated ;} -- Purple(ish) to Pink (maybe darker colors are not working well with all my sun!), Diploid, EE/E/EM, Evergreen-or-Semi Evergreen, Fertile Both Ways, Rebloomer, Under 20 Inches, Bi-tone, Watermark, Chevron, Ruffled Edge, <$40/DF (to be nurtured with SuperSorb to help with water restrictions)

--->Top contenders: Little Trooper, Little Star Bright, Little Jet Setter
--->Honorable mentions: Pugsley, Little Liza Jane, Dazzle

the only things i'd add, if i could (hmmm, because maybe now i'll need a mate for Perfect DL...), is diamond dusting, extended bloom, instant reblooming, and edging (hey, you already got me into nirvana-land; why not shoot for more-than-perfect?!) Lovey dubby but so far, i cannot find a small ev/sev early fertile that is also in the purple-range with diamond/extend/instant rebloom/edging... Whistling

Did i miss any other contenders? I'm all ears! otherwise, i now have to find new ways to stop myself from getting ultimately entangled in this "enableding" thang Blinking *grips pocketbook tightly!* Hilarious! Angel
